A GREAT mixture of Hot & Cold and Feast or Famine at Paradise Saturday.  We had an unusually large number of really BIG games, but nearly all those monster games were accompanied by some less than desired games.  We also had a perfect range of scores, for a '3 of 4' format, with the Cash List spanning 848 to 747.  The Winning score was the result of a Spectacular final game by the Champ.  The Cash List included 7 ladies this week, lead by women in the Top 2 spots.  We even added to the incredible history of Huge 9-Tap Jackpot payouts on these lanes.  Magic Bristol was one of several bowlers to get nice strings of taps started, but the only bowler who took it ALL THE WAY to the 'Magical' Big Money Shot.  Quite a crowd had already gathered when Magic left a solid 9-pin in the 6th frame shot.  That set-up ONE BALL for nearly $7,000.00, in front of a huge group of onlookers and cameras, while all the action ceased on every other lane.  He threw a beautiful ball under those conditions... too beautiful, as he buried a solid strike (see video below).  Obviously he was happy to take the $750.00 Consolation for the Front 6 Taps, but he'd sure like another chance at #7.  The Progressive Pot got a substantial boost to a 'way above average' $2,618.00 for next week at Secoma.

Another GREAT story for another 1st time Champion, as Fongchun 'Nicky' Allison won this Title with a Spectacular finishing game.  She shot well enough to finish 26th if she just threw an average 4th game.  Instead, she came through with anincredible scratch 288 game (106 pins above avg), boosting her to all the way to the Top Spot with 42 pins to spare.  This is only Nicky's 2nd year back to bowling, after a 30 year layoff.  She first started bowling in Thailand in the 60's and bowled in her first league in 1969 while in Okinawa with her husband, Richard.  Her last league bowling was in Germany in 1979, during part of Richard's 23 years in the Army.  After her recent return to bowling, the only other Tournament she ever bowled in, was in Reno last year.  So when she joined the Tour, she confessed to having "Butterflies in her stomach", in her first few tries.  This was only Nicky's 4th Tournament with us and she certainly got rid of those butterflies in that last game!  She used her Storm Frantic in her big game, drilled by Robert Kelly at Secoma Lanes.  Having only $10 in the Progressive Pot, it limited her earnings to $1,520.00, which is why the Pot got such a boost for next week.  Nicky said also enjoys hiking, but "Loves" bowling 9-Tap Tournaments!  CONGRATS Nicky on Win #1.
