Wrap Up

The turnout was a little less than expected, but it was nice to see every squad get started on time.  The softer lane conditions at Imperial, led to scores that were a little higher than normal.  The Cut-Line at 931 was just slightly on the high side and at the top of the Cash List, the scores were also up with SEVEN bowlers topping 1000.  The exciting highlight of those seven BIG shooters, had to be Wess Hall Jr tossing a 1001 series... he turns 87 next month!!!  That's not Wess' high series on Tour, he shot a 1040 at Bowlero 3 years ago, at a mere 84 years old.  The 9-Tap Jackpot survived several assaults on Saturday.  John Cruz & Yoshio Padilla both strung 6-Taps in the middle of their games, setting them up for One Ball worth $1,000.00 (see video below).  Each threw shots that could have paid off, but each was 1-pin away from the money.  John's quote after his shot was perfect, "I hate real strikes"!  That allowed Skip Shear to take the Consolation money for his front 5-Taps, worth a nice $375.00 Bonus.  That left the Jackpot to grow, again approaching All-Time High territory at $9,374.00.  The Progressive Pot also remains at an above average level for next weeks 'Best 3 of 4' format at Skyway.

Rick Jack started BIG, finished BIG, bowling just well enough in his middle two games to cruise to a 31-pin Victory.  Rick's 2nd Career Title, was earned by the shattering of his Personal Bestseries, topping it by an enormous 63 pins.  His pervious best series only resulted in a 3rd Place finish at Paradise.  Rick seems to have a knack of winning the 'Big Ones', since his last win was another BIG payday worth $2,830.00.  This week he took home $2,710.00 for the Win, but to sweeten that total, he also collected an additional $175.00 from the Scratch Pot.  There were several bowlers in the last squad, who had opportunities to Top Rick's 1079, while he watched and anxiously paced the floor.  His old Hammer 'Black Widow' was his ball of choice and like the 'Wizard' that he used in his last win, it was also drilled back in Dayton, Ohio before he headed west.  Rick does his league bowling at Paradise Bowl on Monday and he thanks his fellow Paradise bowler and friend Terry Morton for their support Saturday.  CONGRATS Rick on your BIG series and Win #2!!

Frank Cruz Sr also had a HUGE game to start his series and if he had matched it in his final game, he would've taken down his first Tour Title.  Most weeks, his 1048 would have been enough for his first Tour Championship, but the large 2nd Place money of $1,184.00 is still a nice weekends cash flow.  In 3rd Place, Mariano Cagungon was also gunning for his first Tour Title.  Only 4 pins behind, Frank Mariano took home a $652.00 check for his best finish to date.
