Wrap Up
We had a HUGE contrast in scoring, from last weekend's BIG scores at Secoma's 'Long-Oil Special', to our regular conditions at Daffodil.  For the 5th straight Tourney at Daffodil, we made no change to the lane set-up and the Cut-Line was again Ideal at 912.  The Top scores ending up on the low side, despite several bowlers who were well positioned for some much bigger scores.  Lots of bowlers voiced the same wish, that this week had been a 'Best 3 of 4' format (that's next week).  In the end, no one anticipated the DRAMA that would take place at the Finish Line.

In the final squad, the outcome couldn't have been any more dramatic, with Rafael Jandusay experiencing the emotional extremes, from the "Thrill of Victory to the Agony of Defeat"(but reversed)!  Going into his last game, he knew that he had a good shot at the 1013 that Dale Coleman posted in the 2nd squad, but the "AGONY" came when he missed a spare in his final frame.  By Rafael's calculations, that left him 9 pins short of the Top Spot.  For the next 15 or 20 minutes, while the recaps were being processed, he resigned himself to having come so close to his first Tour Victory.  I wish we had a video of his "Thrill of Victory" reaction, when we informed him that his addition was incorrect, he had 10 more pins than he thought, giving him a the ONE PIN Victory that he thought had escaped him.  WOW... when I went to school, I don't remember anyone getting a $2,367.00 reward for making an error on a math quiz!?!  BUT, I also never saw anyone so EXCITED when a math error was pointed out.  Rafael said that he'd use some of his earnings for a trip to Oregon next month, where he'll bowl in an annual Filipino Tournament.  His Winning ball was a Track CT811, drilled by Chad Turner at Majestic Lanes, where he also does his league bowling.  Rafael asked us to Thank his friends Samson Ibale & James Black for their support while he bowled and also for all their harassment after the Win was confirmed.  CONGRATS Rafael on Win #1!!

When Dale Coleman shot his 1013 in the 2:00 squad, he knew it wasn't a very safe score.  Since he wasn't around at the end, he had no idea how close he'd come to hanging on for his 3rd Career Title.  Instead, he ended up in 2nd Place for the first time in his Tour Career, worth a healthy $1,047.00.  In 3rd Place, Mick Thrush (part of the Yakima Posse) came close to his first Singles Title.  He shared our 2013 Kick-Off Doubles Title with fellow Yakiman Randy Kanzig in January.  His 1005 series Saturday was worth a nice $583.00.  Kenny Burnside was the only other bowler to reach the 1000 mark, hitting 1000 on the button, good enough for 4th Place.

P.S. Happy Birthday (Saturday) to Daffodil's defending Champion James Strand!
