WHAT A DAY! The Ladies took over on Valentine's Day weekend, with 10 ladies on the Cash List and 3 of the Top 4 finishers! The NEW record for a 3 squad Tournament (set in our last Tournament at Secoma), was topped by just one entry, which included one HUGE squad with 65 bowlers. Due to a Tie for the last spot, we paid one extra position, bringing the Cash List total to a beefy 31. BIG THANKS to everyone for your patience when we had limited space and long lines! By not putting the full $20 in the Progressive Pot, the 1st Place($10) & 2nd Place ($0) finishers, coupled with the large turnout, boosted the Progressive Pot to a new RECORD $3,296.00 for next week. As a result, there could be some Record Payouts at Sounder Lanes next Saturday! Gary Greene took advantage of the increased Consolation Bonus payouts by stringing the first 5 Taps, taking home $375.00 for his effort, and naturally his string was broken by a perfect real strike.
Sun Kim captured her first Championship, as the only bowler to crack 1000 at Skyway. This was only the fourth Tournament Sun has entered on the Tour and she struggled in her first three tries. Up until Saturday, her high scratch game had only been a 189. After a frustrating first game, she put it all together by throwing three straight consistent games of 208-207-208 which was more than enough to win it. Sun had to weather a score correction in her last game, that made the final score a lot closer. The final margin of victory was still 19 pins, but it was a lot more nerve wracking waiting to see if that score held up through the last squad. She used a Brunswick 'Zone', drilled at Paradise Village for her win. Sun began bowling two years ago and currently participates in two leagues at Pacific Bowl. Despite only having $10 in the Progressive Pot, she still wins a solid $1,607.00. Her plans for her winnings include presents for her sons, a ukulele for one and a new game for the other. Sun grows Bean Sprouts for a living and also enjoys skiing and ping-pong. CONGRATS Sun on your first win!
Mike Swift, a 2003 Member, in his 2nd time back to the Tour after a long layoff, shot a nice 985 to slip into 2nd by just ONE PIN. He was very enthusiastic about the $500.00 he earned and didn't dwell on the other $607.00 he could have had. Just getting nosed out by that single pin was Dawn Eaton, who couldn't have done any better in her last game, shooting a strong 300 to make it close. She got some sweet 3rd Place money....$543.00 for her effort. Finishing in 4th Place after leading in the 1st squad, was Denise Thrush, who along with her husband Mick (29th), came over the Cascades from Naches to bowl this weekend.
