Tournament Wrap Up

What a FANTASTIC 'Regular Season' Finale at Secoma Saturday!  The competition couldn't have been scripted any better.  SIX bowlers topped 1000, with each squad producing TWO of those scores, and we also had a perfect cut-line at 908.  Our largest turnout since Labor Day, created a Cash List of 35 Members, paying out a huge total of $11,119.00, which also puts us within easy reach of surpassing an unbelievable $400,000.00for the year.  For the 2nd time this yearBob Blakeslee had a shot at theMAGICAL 7th Tap to capture the 9-Tap Jackpot.  This time he buried his 7th frame shot for a real strike, settling for a $750.00 Consolation and another HUGE Adrenalin Rush.  Secoma Lanes was again the site of another 'BATTLE of  the Bowyer Family'!  Last May, Steve Bowyer (Dad) was the Top Qualifier until Mai-Lee Bowyer (Daughter) knocked him down to 2nd.  This weekend, Steve Freeman (Son-in-Law) held the Tournament lead through the 1st & 2nd squads, until Steve Bowyer (Dad) overtook him by 13 pins in the last squad.  But while all of us were watching the Family Feud unfold, another Tour Member outflanked them all.

Kris Colburn had a SPECTACULAR finish to capture her 1st Tour Title and earn a spot in next weeks Year-End Championship.  Kris bowled on the Tour for several years after originally joining in 2003, then shereturned this year after a five year layoff.  She wasn't even going to bowl Saturday, until Greg Roberts convinced her to come down and take a shot.  Then... after she was derailed by one bad game in her first entry, she decided to do what she NEVER does, re-enter.  Turned out to be a series of brilliant choices, leading to a sweet payday of $2,317.00.  In her re-entry, Kris started out with a HUGE first game, but she thought that a 185 in her 2nd game had cost her any chance of winning.  An excellent finish propelled her to a sizzling 1071, easily her Personal Best series on the Tour.  Her ball of choice was an Ebonite 'Red Mission', drilled by "Real Pro" Instructor Dave Hanson, at Pacific Lanes.  Kris enjoys hiking and biking in Orting and Mt. Rainier, in addition to Volunteering at South County Cats, a feral cat rescue.  CONGRATS Kris on Win #1!

The Bowyer Battles may become Legend or maybe it will be the closeness of the family, as no one was happier for Steve Bowyer's 2nd Place finish than the beaten son-in law Steve Freeman in 3rd.  "Pops" 1056 even surpassed his PB from last May and was worth a sizable $1,037.00 for 2nd.  Steve Freeman also shot his PB, on his way to a $573.00 payday.  In 4th Place was Jeff Shearer, who only joined his first League this year, and he also happens to be the programmer who is creating our new computer program which we hope to have on line for the 1st of the year.  The Top 4 Finishers this week, were ALL looking for their 1st Tour Titles.
