Tournament Wrap Up
Saturday at HiLine was very nearly an 'Instant Replay' of the previous week. The weather was a similar sunny day... which also stressed the air conditioning system just like last week... making the oil conditions similarly 'squirrelly'... with 180 Entries vs last weeks 181... topped off with another 1st-time Champion being crowned. A large Cash List of 36 Members was capped with a perfect Cut-Line of 920. At the Top of the Cash List, we had a total of EIGHT bowlers scoring over 1000, with only 5 pins separating 1st and 2nd Places. An unusual twist this week saw only one person getting as many as 4-Taps. Mick Thrush again captured the Consolation, this time good for $150. Not since last January, has the Jackpot gotten off that easy! As a result, the 9-Tap Jackpot makes a huge jump to $9,421.00 for Secoma Lanes August 13th. The $11,432.00 total payout is the 15th time this year that we've topped the $10,000.00 mark already, after reaching that mark only 4 times in 2010. ALOHA to Pearl Sedeno, who bowled with us Saturday. She's a 'Life Member' in our Hawaii Region, currently visiting family here in Washington. Pearl, and husband Raymond, used to bowl regularly here before moving back to Hawaii 2 years ago. The Hawaii invasion will continue at Secoma Lanes, when we'll also have both of our Hawaii Directors (Kawika & Art) paying a visit.
HiLine produced another 1st-Time Champion, with Osmond Greenearning the crown. Osmond has had SIX previous Top 10 finishes since he joined the Tour 3 years ago. His 1068 score shattered his previous best by over 70 pins. That huge score is a GREAT example of what happens when you get into that notorious "ZONE"! It's obvious that he's worked on his game, which has shown a steady improvement over the last year. For the 2nd straight week, Pat Johns drilled the Winner's ball at his
Also seeking his first Title, finishing just 5 pins back, John Sisavathnearly pulled out the win with a HUGE final game (308 w/hdcp). John is becoming the "Close Call King", with two 2nd Place and two 3rd Place finishes this year. He also had SIX Taps in a row to finish a game, but ran out of game before getting a chance at #7. The $1,148.00 2nd Place money should help a little. In 3rd Place, coming within ONE bad frame of his first win, Steve Shine shot an awesome 1042 for a healthy $614.00payday. A 10th frame split derailed his run during the 4:40 squad.
