We'd like to THANK all of the 9-Tap Tour Members, new and old, for all of the support and friendship in 2010!  Saturday was a GREAT ending to a Record Breaking year, with a little bit of everything going on at the Year-End Championship.  The unique format for this event, created some exciting competition.  We had two ties in Qualifying (9th-10th tiebreaker) and one of them even went into 'Double Overtime'.  There was a clutch 9-Tap 300 game shot in the Bracket Finals.  Our seldom used 'Winners Pot' is the only Pot that can 'pass-down' money if a winner isn't fully in the Pot.  Three of the Top finishers shared the bounty of $469.00, that was left on the table.  We did have a few 'no-shows' to this Invitational, which diluted the cash list a little compared with the 2009 Year-End Tourney.  There was one Member (possible Mariner fan) who missed the last 'Wild Card' spot by two pins, sharing a famous wail, "Wait til Next Year".  We look forward to seeing everyone 'Next Year' after the Holiday Break.

Our Year-End Champion Shannon Peterson, chose an ideal time to win her FIRST ever singles Title.  Shannon has had her share of success on Tour since 2003, including a 2006 Doubles Title at Tower Lanes, when she teamed up with her Dad, Bill (who also has 2 Titles).  She also finished in 9th Place at the 2009 Y/E
Championship.  I think she likes this Special format, making the finals as a 'Wild Card' from the Qualifying round.  Shannon made the 'clutch' shots when she needed them, not just in her quarterfinal 300 game, but also in her narrow semi-final 5-pin victory, then again in the Championship match, after both finalists struggled in the middle of the game. It was her double at the end of the game that decided the Title.  Despite having $10 in the Winners Pot, Shannon still earned a nice $1,469.00, that she said will come in handy for Christmas shopping.  Her winning ball, an Ebonite "Angular One" was drilled by her Dad and he was there to cheer her on throughout the finals.  This win also earns her a Tour Pennant that will hang at each Tour stop next year.  Shannon works for Thurston County and bowls in two leagues at Pacific Lanes.

Ajay Jarata was scoring at a torrid pace throughout the Bracket Finals, including a 303 game, until running into Shannon, who was also on a hot streak.  He made the Finals after winning his 'Pool', taking home a HUGE 2nd Place check for $1,069.00.  Both 3rd Place finishers Dorrie Quirante and Mac Brown, also won their 'Pools' in qualifying, and each took home a healthy $476.00.  Bill Fowler was the high scorer going into the finals, ending up tied for 5th.
