As the 9-Tap Tour train left Sunset Station last Saturday and headed towards Texas Station, everybody had an extra day to prepare for our firstSunday event.  That extra day paid off as our bowlers delivered some great scores.  Sean Carney set the score to beat at 1027 during the first squad, with Bruce Gorr (visiting from Seattle) a close second, with his 1017 effort.  In the second squad, Ken James, caught FIRE on a re-entry, after struggling on his first try.   He took possession of first place with a huge 1085 score, but still wasn't safe, with an onslaught of BIG scores coming from every squad.  Orrie Smith posted his 1022 to be part of the pack before the final squad at 5 pm.  As the last squad came to a close, only one bowler had a chance to knock Ken James out of first place.  Ellena Dominguez, coming off a 2nd place finish at Sunset Station, overcame the increase to her average last week, by bowling even better this week.  She needed a monster last game for a chance to win her first title, but came up a bit short, with a final game of 226 for a fantastic 1049 series.  Ellena's second straight big finish, is also certain to make for a BIG jump on the Bowler of the Year standings, that will be posted on Wednesday.  Ellena received $576.00 for her 2nd consecutive 2nd place finish and Sean Carney got a nice check for $343.00.

So, in the end, Ken James survived the contenders and took home the healthy $1,266.00 winner's share for his first Tour Title.  Ken joined the 9-Tap Tour back in November, during our Thanksgiving event at Texas Station.  He says that he's always enjoyed participating in Tournament Competition.  According to his memory, he has at least six titles, dating back as much as 20 years ago, from events such as the old NABI Tournaments (National Amateur Bowling Inc).  This week, he used his Storm Lock, drilled by Brian at the Suncoast Pro Shop. for his Winning effort.  Ken said he didn't let anything bother him while he tried to focus on each shot, not worrying about the next shot or what he needed for the Win.  Single and retired, Ken also enjoys trap shooting while not competing in tournaments or bowling in his two leagues every week.  Glad you could add another notch, to your Tournament history...
