Wrap Up

Sunday brought the 9-Tap Tour to Kenmore Lanes, where we were 'testing' Sunday Tourneys in the North-End.  We appreciated the support we saw in the first two squads which had a nice turnout.  The 3rd squad did tail-off, leaving us a smaller than usual turnout of 88 bowlers, producing a 'Cash List' of 18 Members.  We previously mentioned in the Newsletter that the scores have tended to be a little higher than normal at Kenmore.  This proved to be right on target, as 8 bowlers shot over 1000 Sunday, with a just slightly higher 'Cut-Line' than ideal at 941.  This weekend brought out some Personal Best scoring and one bowler's first 9-Tap 300 game.  Three of the Top 4 places shot their Best series ever on the Tour, the other was Leon Bemis who shot his best series since 2019

We would like to congratulate Kannha Tong for firing his first 300 on the Tour in his final game, while finishing in 7th place with a nice 1010 series.  Another bowler shooting his Personal Best and finishing in 4th place was Adam Hamlet with a nice 1031 series.  This was another weekend that the Top Spot was up for grabs all day, but there were multiple cases where just one game held back some BIG scores.  We had THREE bowlers with the Front-4 Taps, plus Ed Berg almost getting the Middle-7 foiled by a real strike on his fourth attempt.  Cashing in with the Front-4 for $150.00 each were Mike Crowe, Brian Kuykendall and Tour new comer Bradly Jefferies.  Next week the 9-Tap Jackpot stays extra high for Bowlero (Tacoma) at $8,627.00

EXPLODING out of very long slump, Peter Davis caught fire, finishing with his biggest game in over 2 years, earning our Kenmore Lanes Title.  He's now a two-time Winner, having also Won in 2019 when he was on quite a Hot-Streak.  In 2019, Peter was constantly on the Cash List, but suddenly cooled off.  Sunday, Peter came out and fired his Personal Best score in the first squad, a blistering 1051 series, then held his breath the rest of the day while his score held off all those assaults.  Using his STORM 'Hyroad Pearl', he couldn't miss, with his only setback being a 174 third game.  In his final game Peter had the front 11 strikes, and just flushed the pocket, leaving the unthinkable 7-10 split for a 298 game.  Peter was both excited and surprised that his score held up and for bringing home a nice check of $1,738.00.

Kenmore Champion "Peter Davis"

How many players need to break out the SPECIAL GERIATRIC CREAM to warm up (Icy-Hot)?  Sunday it was none other than 89 year-old HOF'er Leon Bemis, who fired his highest series (1044) since 2019, finishing in an impressive 2nd Place.  Leon said as long as he stayed just outside the 10 board he was in the pocket and his scores were consistent all day.  Our Super Senior is a bowler to watch out for when he's Hot.  It's nice to see him heating-up!  This week he added to his Tour history, by pocketing a nice check of $612.00, pushing his Prize Money total to $32,493.00

In 3rd Place, again we had another bowler shooting his Personal Best score of 1035, as William Kenny also had his Best Finish.  William is one of the long list of bowlers who had a chance of Winning his first tournament, but just fell short in his final game.  He is 'climbing-the-ladder' by following up on his 10th Place finish last week. This week collecting a check of $372.00 for his effort.  William keep it up... the Title is within your reach.  Nice Shooting!
