Considering the beautiful day outside, the 88 entries inside, was a pretty nice turnout. Tour Members were also treated to a nice Bonus, with an Antique Car Show in the parking lot during the afternoon. The scoring was right in the 'normal range', with a 'cut score' at very reachable 932 and just three members topping 1025. The 89 pin range of handicaps on the Cash List, was about as extreme as it can get... from Mark Andersson's 75 pins (5th place) to Mitch Vernon's -14 per game (3rd). Thanks to our hosts at Tower Lanes, it was a very smooth running, on-time Tournament. The 9-Tap Jackpot gets very close to the $4,000 mark at $3,945.00. Once the Pot passes $4,000, we start raising the Consolation Payouts.

"Life Member" Paul Marcello returns to the Winners Circle, with a STRONG 1087. Paul obviously likes Tower Lanes, having won the 2009 Opening Doubles Tournament, along with Rich Eaton, earlier this year. Paul actually shot well enough in his 1st entry to have finished 8th, but felt he was bowling well enough to improve on it. He improved all the way to the Top Spot on his 2nd try, but had to "Sweat it Out" watching 4 bowlers take a run at him in the last squad. This is his 3rd career Title, good for a $1,675.00 payday. Paul has had very meaningful and timely uses for his prize money. After his 1st Championship last year, he proposed to Jessica and used his winnings to buy a ring. After his Doubles win in January, that money went to help pay for their Vegas wedding. This win will go toward his son's College Education. Ironically, the newlyweds (last month) Paul and Jessica are now "Neck & Neck" (6th & 7th) in the Bowler of the Year standings. Paul used his new Storm "Virtual Gravity" from the Tech City Pro Shop for this Title. Paul works for Boeing and also enjoys playing a little golf. He's come a long way with his bowling, considering he only started bowling regularly a little over 3 years ago. CONGRATS Paul on win #3.

An "Up and Coming" youngster, with a SWEET shot, Corben Etteldorf shot his best Tour series 1069. He likewise had his best finish in 2nd place, worth a nice $760.00. In 3rd place, the guy who literally "OWNS" Tower Lanes, with 4 previous Titles there, Mitch Vernon. His 1052 was good enough for $415.00. Willie Ragin and Ted Sherman shared the Jackpot Consolation with 4 No-Taps, splitting the $100.

NEXT WEEKEND: The 2-Day, "Money Added" Miller-Lite Classic at Skyway Park. The 1st of THREE Money Added Tournaments this summer.
