WHAT A WEEKEND!!! THANKS to all for helping to make this such a GREAT Tournament! A Spectacular turnout on Sunday raised the entries to a 2009 high of 139. Great way to start the Summer Season, with 28 Finalists and $8,112.00 Paid Out! Skyway Park Bowl continued it's recent trend toward Higher Scoring. 15 of the Finalists qualified with scores topping the 1000 mark this week, with a "Cut Score" of 970 Saturday and 962 Sunday. Saturday's Top Qualifier Hubert Isip set what looked like an unbeatable score of 1133, earning the $100 Saturday Bonus. But, for the first time in nearly 2 years, the Top Overall Qualifier actually came from Sunday. Tom Mayer shot 150 pins better than his All-Time High, an AWESOME 1140, to take the Top Qualifier honors, winning a new HAMMER "Hot Sauce Pearl" ($250 retail) and a 9-Tap Tour Jacket. In the 2nd round of the Finals, Father and Son (Gary DeLeon & Hubert Isip) met in a GREAT Head-to-Head battle that became a WAR, with neither giving an inch. It ended with Gary toppling Hubert 301 to 285 (incl/hdcp) and afterward, Dad was accused of "Child Abuse".

Our Memorial Weekend Classic Champion is Rey Alvarez. Rey is a Life Member, who joined the Tour back in 2003. Knee surgery had sidelined him last year and this Tournament marked his return to the Tour. What a Comeback! Our Tour rules limit both returning or new Members to a max of $10 in the Progressive Pot. That rule held Rey to $1,480.00 for the win and in turn, caused quite a jump in the Pro Pot for Bowlero in two weeks. He was very excited to be back in the "Winner's Circle" for his 2nd Title, the last one coming over FIVE years ago. After Rey's first entry on Saturday came up short, he came back Sunday and qualified with a nice 996 on his re-entry. He didn't shoot any really big games in his 5 Head-to-Head matches, just consistantly good ones. Along the way, Rey knocked out another Father & his Son (Rudy & Randy Laed) and the Top Qualifier Tom Mayer. CONGRATULATIONS and Welcome Back Rey!

In 2nd Place, Dax Colwell came so close to his first Title, with a nice run through the Brackets. He qualified with a 1009 and takes $854.00 home for his efforts. In a 3rd Place tie, Ted Sherman and Samson Ibale each earned $376.00 for their Final Four finish. David Kim took the Jackpot Consolation Bonus of $100 for his 5 No-Taps.
