9-Tap Tour Tournament Results
Roxbury Lanes - Seattle, Wa Oct 10, 2009
Total Paid Out: $6,261.00

A nice turnout at Roxbury Lanes Saturday, with 101 entries. Several bowlers told me that they liked the shot, but they just couldn't stay away from those bad stretches. That was evidenced by the fact that many Members had THREE good games and ONE that really hurt their scores. All day the door was wide open for anyone to jump to the Top of the Cash List. ONLY TWO Members were able to crack the 1000 mark and a 'Low-to-Cash' score of 890 were more confirmation of the challenge. We also didn't have the expected run at the 9-Tap Jackpot. Steve Shine was the only Member to reach 4 No-Taps, so he took home the $100 Bonus, leaving the Pot to grow to a healthy $3,337.00.

Brett Farve 'un-retired' and he's 5-0 with the Vikings. Floyd Mayweather 'un-retired' and his return to boxing led to a big win. Now the Tour has a Champion who has returned from the ranks of the 'un-retired'. 63 year-old Earl Kleist, had hung up his bowling shoes for over two years. No leagues, no tournaments and no practice. Instead, he was working 7 days a week at his Transportation job at Ft Lewis. Over the last few months, Earl has worked hard to eliminate all the 'rust', practicing at the NEW Ft Lewis Bowl Arena. He has shown steady improvement since his return to the Tour, culminating with this WIN at Roxbury. In the early days of the 9-Tap Tour, Earl was not only a regular, he also had the most titles with SIX, the last one coming in March 2006, at Skyway Park. This week, Earl was the only bowler to solve the challenging conditions, with a VERY nice 1050 score. That was a convincing score, winning by 47 pins over 2nd and 70 pins over 3rd. In addition to his $1,787.00 winners share, Earl put some 'Icing on the Cake' winning another $160 from the Scratch Pot. Earl used his Ebonite Quantum drilled by our sponsor Norm at the Bowlero PRECISION PRO SHOP. CONGRATULATIONS EARL on Win #7!!

In 2nd Place, Bill Freeland came close for the second week in a row, with a FINE 1003. Coming close twice in a row has to be a little frustrating, but his $815.00 share must soothe that a little. In 3rd Place, Randy Laed shot a nice 980, but tried to Top it re-entering the 6:30 squad. He actually had a shot to WIN IT ALL with a BIG last game, but fell just short of his earlier score, still taking $427.00 for his efforts.

NEXT WEEK: SKYWAY PARK 12:00 & 2:00 re-oil 4:30 & 6:30.
