Heading into our 2 week Summer Break, we had an amazing day at Roxbury Saturday! Every number that came out of this Tournament created a record for a Doubles event. The number of individual Bowlers (176), plus multiple entries (64), equaled a record 120 Doubles entries. 24 teams made the Cash List, which created a record total Doubles payout of $7,683.00. 3 Dads shared $455.00 (a record) from the Dad's Pot, Terrence Alford $260. Henry Henkel $130 & Wes Wanmer $65. Kathy Johnson took $100 Bonus for her 4 No-Taps, leaving the 9-Tap Jackpot to soar to $5,339.00 for HiLine Lanes, July 11th.
The 'Check-In' for these Doubles Tournaments is a major challenge! So, kudos to Margie, Jeanierose (filling in for Fred) and Jon, for processing those HUGE numbers and getting all the squads off nearly on time!!
We mentioned that unique "Storylines" seem to be the norm for the Dad's Day Doubles. This year it's no different. The winning team, each capturing their first Titles, consisted of one "Rookie" and one Veteran "Life Member". Wes Puishis, a longtime Tour Vet, has a long history of successes, including THREE 2nd & THREE 3rd place finishes since 2005, but no wins until now. Wes partnered with Tour Rookie Henry Henkel, who was bowling in only his second entry. Henry just got back into bowling last year, after a 15 year layoff. He bowls with his brother Tommy, who just won a house 9-Pin event at Bowlero last week. Wes, on the other hand, has been a regular bowler for years, including representing Seattle on the Senior Men's All-Star Team. They share the $1,513.00 winner's purse, for their nice 1046. Henry used a Brunswick "Rhino Pro" drilled by, Tour Sponsor, Norm at the Bowlero Precision Pro Shop. CONGRATS to our two 1st Time Champs!
In 2nd place, two Sun Villa bowlers, Stephen Moreno and Dao Doung, take $756.00 for the 1014 they shot in the first squad. In 3rd, a couple of Cascade bowlers, Kathy Johnson & Bruce Gorr shot 1007, to take home $386.00. 8 Members took advantage of the "Multi-Cash" opportunity by cashing at least twice. Dorrie Quirante & Henry Henkel led the way with 3 Cashes each.
