The "Door was Open" all day and ONE bowler stepped through that door in a BIG way. Most felt there was a good shot at Narrows in every squad... But no one seemed to be able to put four good games together. The lower scores created some tight competition, with 14 of the 18 'Cashers' (5th-18th) finishing within 44 pins. We also saw the 'Cut Line' dip below 900 for the first time in a long, long time. The range of handicaps on the 'Cash List' was, as usual, very diverse, ranging from Sonya Gutowski with 68 pins, to Nelson Sand with -3. EIGHT Members also made a run at the 9-Tap Jackpot (as expected). 4 ended their string at 3 No-Taps, then 3 others strung out 4 No-Taps, finally Pam Sims got the first 5 No-Taps, good for $100. The Jackpot now stands at $3,229.00.
Our Champion, is another 1st time winner, Alfredo Oriza. He joined the Tour last January and struggled during his first 12 Tournament entries. But, he's worked hard on his game and it started paying off this month at Bowlero, with a 4th Place finish and now his first Tour Title. Talk about finding that famous "ZONE"... Alfredo DESTROYED the competition, finishing 103 pins ahead of 2nd Place. When asked what he'd do with the $2,087.00 he takes home for 1st, he said it will go toward bills and some savings. He used his Storm "Paradigm Passion", drilled at Bowlero's Precision Pro Shop, by Tour sponsor Norm Giannusa. Alfredo came to the US from the Philippines in 1996 and currently works for Blue Nile Inc. He asked us to thank his wife Marilyn and daughter Mildred for their support. Alfredo also enjoys playing Basketball and Chess. CONGRATULATIONS Alfredo!!
In 2nd Place, Tour Veteran Danny Ramos shot very well in two entries. In both entries he threw some BIG games, but had a few stretches of some 'Bad Breaks' with a bunch of splits. His 979 was good for a nice $925.00 check. Van Kirk had his best finish, ending up only 9 pins back of Danny with a 970, good for $487. Another 2 pins back in 4th was Aaron Eidet who had the early lead Saturday.
