With FIVE other Tournaments going on this weekend, we couldn't be more excited with the nice turnout at Narrows Plaza. Thanks to all that participated! An AWESOME 12 New Members and 87 total entries, kept us just ahead of last years record pace. It's going to take a BIG showing at Skyway next week to maintain that pace. The first squad Saturday was the smallest we've had in a long time, but it was also the best scoring squad of the day. That 12:00 squad also included another USBC "Honor Score", this time it was Cal Fisher throwing 11 Natural Strikes in-a-row, in his first game. Coincidently, shortly after Cal shot his near Perfecto, we presented John Nissen his plaque from USBC to honor his 11 in-a-row shot on December 13th. Overall, the scores at Narrows, were much lower than they were just 3 weeks ago. Only 2 members topped 800 this week and the 722 cut score was also well below average for this format.
For the 1st time in the 7 year history of the 9-Tap Tour, we have a BACK-TO-BACK Champion! John Trausch makes history and his 823 easily walked away with this one, good for another $1,699.00 winners share. This is his 4th Career Title and will earn him a Gold Championship shirt. John shared an interesting story with me, after the Tournament. He reminded me of a conversation we had a while back, when I told him that, "His Handicap didn't matter... When you get Hot you Win!" He said he thought I was nuts at the time, but now he understands exactly what I meant. There is no denying, John his on a HOT STREAK! John wouldn't have won this Tournament, if it hadn't been a "Best 3 of 4" format. His 188 in his 1st game would have cost him, but when he switched back to the same line and ball that he used last week, everything came together. His Storm "El Nino" did it for him again! One more time, he thanks Cory at Bowl Doc's Pro Shop for setting up his ball. John's other secret weapon, are his young cheerleaders, daughters Katrina and Amanda who were again with him for this win. CONGRATULATIONS John on a historic win!!!
Jose Guzman had his best ever finish, taking 2nd place and a nice $764.00. He had a very real chance to take the Title going into his last game. His 807 was the only other 800 of the Tournament. Cal Fisher also had a good shot, but couldn't get that one other BIG game to pull it out. His 780 was good enough for a $420.00 payday. Cal along with Rollie Abella and Dax Colwell all tied with 3 No-Taps each, to take $50 apiece from the Consolation Bonus. The Jackpot again grows to huge $6,846.00.
