We had a GREAT turnout Saturday, on a HOT July day, with some equally HOT competition! We even paid a few extra places, thanks to a 3-way tie for the last spot. That diluted the 'Cash List' just a little bit, but $7,533.00 Total Paid Out for the day is pretty nice for a one day Tournament. That payout was helped by the Special 'Senior Pot', which saw $225 divided among the Top 3 Seniors (hdcp/game), Edgar Caindec 309 $130, Cecil Abay-Abay 301 $65, Steve Shine 284 $30. We also had a nice $250 paid to Bob Rouse from the Jackpot Consolation, for his FIVE 9-Taps. The Jackpot still grew to $5,495.00 for next weeks EQC Championship at Narrows Plaza. We also saw the highest 'Scratch Pot' yet this year, with $420 evenly split between Gene Johnson and Magic Bristol. Those numbers are impressive, but will probably pale when compared to next weeks, EQC Quarterly Championship, which should again Top $10,000.00. Invitations will go out by email, sometime in the middle of the week, to the largest number of eligible Members ever for this Tournament.
Our HiLine CHAMPION is Edgar Caindec, who returns to the Winner's Circle for the first time since November 2005. Edgar is one of the original 2001 Tour Members, as indicated by his Member #16. This is his 2nd career Title, to go with many 2nd place finishes, which includes a 2nd last year in an EQC Championship. Shortly after he checked in for the 2:00 squad Saturday, I told him that he was "way overdue, to win another Tournament and today was his day." He responded, "Okay I'll win it" and he went out and did just that! The guys Edgar bowled with, said he was in such a "Zone" that he was carrying EVERYTHING, which you pretty much have to do to shoot such an AMAZING score of 1106. That created a sweet $1,957.00 winner's share, that he plans to put mostly in savings, after a little celebrating. Edgar used a new Elite PBA "Shark" drilled by Bob Sanchez at the Precision Pro Shop in Acme Bowl, where he also bowls summer League. Edgar asked us to thank his friends Jeff Scott, John Nissen, Mholee Divina and his "Coach" Rollie Abella, who all bowled together Saturday. He's worked at the VA Hospital for over 20 years and in addition to bowling, he likes to watch his 2 sons play basketball.
Just 4 Members cracked the 1000 mark Saturday and the first to do it in the 12:00 squad was Brian Eibert. Brian has been rehabbing after knee surgery and a 6 month absence from the Tour. A 1049 score is a pretty nice comeback, good for an $883.00 payday. Khon Phetlamphanh barely made it in time for the 2:00 squad and he made the most of it, with a strong 1009, good for 3rd Place and $471.00.
NEXT WEEK: $2,000.00 ADDED EQC QUARTERLY CHAMPIONSHIP
NARROWS PLAZA - Saturday 12:00 & 2:30 & 5:00 - Sunday 11:00 & 1:00
