We came very close to matching last weeks fantastic turnout and again we saw some great scores, with 11 members cracking 1000. With the 9-Tap Jackpot, we almost had our "Deja Vu" moment with two members trying to take down the Pot for the second week in a row. First Rob White threw the first FIVE 9-Taps getting a real strike on #6. Then David Kim got the first SIX 9-Taps, needing only one more for the Jackpot, but he got a real strike on #7, settling for the $250 consolation. This week we had several higher handicap bowlers controlling a number of the Top spots. But, the breakdown of the 24 members who cashed shows - 8 bowlers with 10 pins handicap or less - 9 bowlers with 10 to 29 pins - 7 Bowlers with 30 or more pins. Pretty evenly distributed yet again!
We had some truly AMAZING bowling from our HiLine Champion Patrick Robbins, good for a sweet $2,026.00 payday. The day after Friday the 13th, Patrick was bowling in his 13th career entry with the Tour. We so often talk about bowlers who get into a "Zone", well here's a pretty good example. Patrick's series (scratch) was 195 pins higher than his previous best, shooting a FANTASTIC 1017 (1125 w/hdcp). To give you an idea of how HOT Patrick was, he only had 2 games over 250 (scratch) in 12 Tournament entries (48 games). At HiLine he had THREE over 250!! As he was shooting in his second game, he told me that his concentration was so good today he couldn't believe it. He added that for the first time bowling in our Tournaments, he had no butterflies. This is his 1st Title with the Tour, topping his best previous finish of 16th. He used his Track "Kinetic Pearl", drilled at the Precision Pro Shop at Bowlero Lanes. Patrick said he'd use his winnings for a trip to Nashville for a Country Music Festival. He thanks his wife Judy for being at HiLine to support him and Sue Packman for her shoulder rubs during his last game. CONGRATULATIONS Patrick on win #1.
In 2nd place, Ken Seaton had his best finish and also shot a personal best 1056. He has worked hard on his bowling over the last year and has steadily improved. The $910.00 runner-up share is a nice payoff for that hard work. Kathy Johnson had her 1st cash with the Tour and also her best score, on a re-entry, improving by 150 pins over her 1st entry of the day. Very nice 3rd place money of $505.00.
FRANCHISE: Bowling with us all the way from Phoenix, Arizona, Darrell Heath was looking over the operation and considering getting the 9-Tap Tour started down south. Darrell actually is a "Life" member with our Tour, originally joining back in 2002. Now that he lives in Phoenix, he sees a great opportunity for the Tour, with 29 Bowling Centers in the area. One benefit to our local members is the possibility of a "National Tournament" in Reno or Las Vegas, in the very near future.
Next Week: $2,000 ADDED EQC QUARTERLY CHAMPIONSHIP - Invitations will go out this week for next weekends 1st Quarter Championship. All members with 4 entries in this 1st Quarter or 6 entries over the last 6 months, will be getting invitations. This EQC could be another record breaker, based on the momentum we have going into it.
