THANKS to all the Members made this Veteran's Tournament such a Spectacular success! Although we had a few minor gremlins during the day, everyone from the Staff at the Main Gate to the Staff at Bowl Arena, helped to make Saturday a positive and enjoyable Tournament. I heard no reports of anyone having the slightest difficulty at the Main Gate or from those who stopped at the Visitors Center. 26 bowlers 'Cashed' Saturday, with the Top THREE separated by a mere 9 pins. The diversity of averages at the Top of the Cash List was interesting, with Handicaps of 27, 18, 0 & -15, sharing the Top 4 spots. 83 YEARS YOUNG and showing us the way... Wess Hall Jr shot the first SIX 9-Taps, getting an 8 count on shot #7 , then he shot 3 more 9's for good measure, ending with 9 out of his first 10. He was SO close to hitting the 9-Tap Jackpot, but he still takes home a sweet $500 Consolation. THANKS to Crescent Realty and Narrows Plaza Bowl, for helping us to THANK our Vets and Active Duty Personnel. With their help, the Veteran's High Game Pot grew to a healthy $590.00, and was won by three Vets and one Active GI. Steve Dawson's 309 won $236, Nelson Sand 295/$177, Scott Holm 290/$118, Ted Sherman 288/$59. With the HUGE success at Bowl Arena this weekend, we're looking forward to returning in early 2010.

Our Bowl Arena Champion is John Nissen, making his 1st trip to the Winner's Circle in 2009. John has 3 previous career Titles, but has been in an EXTENDED slump for months. In his last 22 entries, his only Cash was a 19th place finish last week. He broke the slump by throwing 4 consistently nice games, but nothing higher than a 264. His 1012 gave him a narrow 7 pin margin of victory and a hefty payday of $2,283.00. John was trying almost anything to break his slump. He even tried dusting off a very old Brunswick Danger Zone, drilled by Pat Johns at HiLine, to try this weekend. Obviously, IT WORKED! John took particular PRIDE in winning this Veteran's Day Tournament at Ft Lewis. He asked us to include his personal THANKS to the Troops (Past & Present) for the Freedoms we have today! That sentiment was echoed loudly by the whole Tour Saturday! CONGRATULATIONS John on win #4!

In 2nd Place, Mitch Vernon was the one Member to really 'Blitz' the shot, but his -15 pins per game kept him just off the pace and 2 pins ahead of 3rd. The $1,013.00 he won was a strong 2nd place share, plus he took another $165 from the Scratch Pot. Steve Shine was the only other bowler to crack 1000, but it was an 8th frame missed spare that held him back from his first Title. He banks $557.00 for 3rd Place.
