Hot Scoring at Cool Acme!
147 entries = 29 Cash = $8,054. Paid Out!

Champion Mike Ducay

The weather was HOT and the scores were HOTTER!  The scores have been a little on the high side, each of our previous visits to Acme Bowl, but they were much higher than expected this time!  18 bowlers topped the 1000 mark and a STAGGERING 64 members topped 900.  We've NEVER even been close to having that many bowlers shoot that well.  Needless to say, most of our members liked the shot at Acme, and appreciated the air-conditioning on such a hot day.  Of the 4 Top scores of the day, one was shot in each of the 4 squads, so there was no advantage to bowling early or late.  The Ladies were well represented, with 6 topping the unusually high 967 Cut Score, that also produced a nice Cash List of 29 members.  This also makes it FOUR straight Tournaments won by a Senior bowler.  Bridgette Andes took the 9-Tap Jackpot Consolation with 5 No-Taps, good for a quick $250 and the Pot still took a jump to $5,946.00.  The Progressive Pot also takes a BIG leap to $2,279.00, for the "Best 3 of 4" Tournament coming up in two weeks at Tower Lanes.

Our Champion, Mike Ducay apparently "OWNS" Acme Bowl.  He won our last Acme Tournament and had a nice "Hot Streak" going last summer.  He's struggled over the last year, but staged quite a comeback this weekend.  Ironically, Mike set his Personal Best last year with an 1111 series, this year he beat that by ONE pin with a fantastic 1112.  This is 2nd straight week that a 70+ year old has won a Tour Title, this one was good for $1,962.00Bob Sanchez at the Acme Precision Pro Shop drilled Mike's Morich "LevRG" that he used for this Title.  Since Mike joined the Tour in 2004, this is his 3rd career Title.  Mike has been bowling since he first came to the U.S. in 1972, usually with his close friends Edgar Caindec, Rollie Abella, John Nissen and Mholee Divina.  He retired from Boeing (Seattle facitity) after 28 years.  CONGRATULATIONS Mike on win #3!!

Don Moseng started the day in the 1st squad, by setting the bar high enough that his 1094 held on for 2nd place.  His $10 in the Progressive Pot held down his winnings a bit, but still earned a nice $726.00Rich Eaton took 3rd with a very nice $486.00 payday.  Rich already had a 992 on the board, but tried to improve that score, moving way up the ladder with a great 1044 in the last squad.
