FANTASTIC way to start the New Year!!! 126 bowlers entered at Tower Lanes Saturday creating 82 Doubles teams. Including, 26 NEW Members and 5 returning former Members. Obviously, our biggest Doubles event yet, despite the many bowlers who were at Seahawks functions, or the game itself. Ryan Baker & Mitch Vernon both came close to hitting the $500 bonus on the 9-Tap Jackpot. Each had the first four 9-Taps and both threw nice shots on the 5th, but Mitch got a real strike and Ryan got a bad break with a pocket 7-10 split. They both got $50, leaving the Jackpot to grow again, now a staggering $5,844. Tower Lanes is normally a high scoring house and there were quite a few big games including 3 scratch 300 games.
With the adjustment to our handicap system, that went into effect this week, we knew that scores would be a bit higher. But, only 6 teams cracked the 1000 mark, with the team of John Bund and Jim King leading the way, with a sweet 1091. Both teammates contributed excellent, near equal, scores of 538 & 553, with Jim having the Top game of 286. Jim & John both joined the 9-Tap Tour in April 2005 and have Member numbers 910 & 911. This is John's 1st Tour Championship and Jim's 2nd Title. The winners took home $1,244.00 for their days work.
Our 2nd place team of veteran John Trausch and rookie Mike Van Huizen, shot an impressive 1078, for a $622.00 payday. John shot the high individual score of the Tournament, a 579. Al Fawcett and Wes Schlegel took home the 3rd place winnings of $324.00, with a 1052.
NEXT WEEK: Paradise Village (SUNDAY ONLY) will have a HUGE Progressive Pot of $2,399. If we have another nice turnout, the winner will top $2,000 and 2nd would top $1,000, if they're fully in the Pot.
