TOURNAMENT STORY

For the 2nd straight week, the winner has $10 in the Progressive Pot, so the Pot takes another jump for next week, to an appealing $2,327.00. We saw so many members stringing 9-Taps in the early squads, we fully expected the 9-Tap Jackpot to get hit Saturday. Scott Leong ended up taking the Consolation Bonus with the first 5 No-Taps (real strike on #6) for $250 and the Jackpot grows again to a huge $6,412.00. The scores were all over the map, with some loving the shot and others struggling with it. In the end, the scores ended up pretty normal for this format, with 3 members cracking 800 and 733 taking the last cash spot. A "RED HOT" Karen Jost is the Narrows Plaza Champion throwing a nice 836 this week. Last week, Karen started her Hot Streak when she won the South Sound Ladies Classic. This is Karen's 1st Title with the Tour, she became a member last January. Despite only $10 in the Pro Pot, she still collects a very nice $1,510.00 for her win. When Karen isn't at work with Wa. State L&I or doing volunteer work with "Susan G Komen for the Cure" and other causes or serving as the South Sound USBC Board of Directors President, she also gets around to bowling in three Leagues. A BUSY schedule to say the least! Karen has close ties with many bowlers on the Tour, as well as much of the Tours Staff. Fred (Precision Pro Shops) drills her equipment and has also given Karen some coaching, while Leon and I both serve together with her on the South Sound Board. She commented that she felt very relaxed and much more confident this week. She appreciated the support and encouragement of other members, particularly Tanisha, Ed and Ron, who she bowled with. CONGRATULATIONS Karen on #1! Scott Leong, who makes the trip over from Ellensburg, takes 2nd place for the second time in the last few months. Scott had the early lead with a strong 814 and hung on for a nice $912.00 payday, in addition to his $250 from the Jackpot. Right behind him in 3rd was Frank Waga with a nice 810, which was good enough for $481.00. NEXT WEEK: Tower Lanes - 12:00 - 2:00 re-oil 4:30 - 6:30
