TOURNAMENT STORY |
What a GREAT ending to the Final EQC Quarterly Championship of the year! The turnout was awesome and the scores were impressive all weekend. Again, we had a nice representation of ALL levels of bowlers among the 30 Finalists. By the time we got down to the "Elite Eight", 7 of the 8 Finalists were looking for their first Title and all 4 of the Final Four were gunning for #1. A RECORD NINE members tied with 3-No Taps, so we paid out $450 ($50 each) from the Jackpot, which is still at a healthy $6,038.00. Randy Laed swept ALL the Qualifier Bonuses ($200+Ball+Jacket) worth $490.00, with his huge 1138, thrown on Saturday.
"It's About Time" Doubled: About Time #1 - Paul Marcello takes his 1st 9-Tap Tour Championship and a nice $1,957.00 payday! In his first year and a half on the Tour, Paul has amassed, TEN Top 10 finishes including THREE in the Top 3. He finally breaks through for a Title and a lot of other members agree that, "IT'S ABOUT TIME"! Everyone that has bowled with Paul, thinks that he is one of the most positive, upbeat members on the Tour and a pleasure to bowl with! About Time #2 - When asked what he was going to do with his winnings, he said that he and Jessica Wy were going straight from Cascade Bowl to the Jewelers, to get her an Engagement Ring. Jessica gave me permission to announce to everyone that they are getting married, though they haven't yet set a date. BOUT TIME! Paul only began bowling a few years ago and he has certainly matured as a bowler. He entered the 10th frame, in the Final Match, needing to strike-out to win by 3 pins. He 'got away with one' on the first ball and then buried the next two, for a clutch Victory. He used his Storm "Virtual Gravity" drilled by Jason Hoff at Tech City, throughout the Tournament. The 6 year Boeing employee asked us to thank everyone that stayed to support the finalists and especially Jessica and Mike & Joelle Reynolds. CONGRATULATIONS Paul and Jessica... quite a day!!!
2nd Place went to Arlen Bell who shot a 'Clutch' game of his own in the Final, after struggling in the semi-final match. He wasn't going to bowl this weekend, but his girlfriend talked him into it. A good choice worth $975.00! Gus Ramos III and Brian Eibert finished in 3rd, good for $500.00 each. Both of them had a GREAT run going all weekend, that ended with some tough breaks in the semi's.
Our THANKS to all of our sponsors: Emerald Queen Casinos - Precision Pro Shops - Cascade Bowl - Hammer.
NEXT WEEK: For the first time, the Tour is hosting a Tournament, that is open to Non-Members, with an average of 210 or less. The "10-Pin Open" will feature Bowlero's regular 'House Shot'. With 100 entries and the Winners Pot, the Tournament should pay over $1,700.00 for 1st place. Squads 12:00 & 2:30 & 5:00. |
