TOURNAMENT STORY

We expected above average scoring at Bowlero this week, and that's just what we got. The Top Eleven finishers all cracked the 1000 mark, while the Cut Score stayed at a more normal 950 level. The Top 6 finishers were each seeking their first 9-Tap Tour Title. Carol Edwards had hopes of her 1st Title, after she led the 1st squad with a GREAT 1054, only to be topped by 82 year old Wes Hall, Jr with an UNBELIEVABLE 1063 in the 2nd squad. The 3rd squad managed to produce even bigger scores. But, with the 1st & 2nd place finishers only having $10 in the Progressive Pot, there was plenty of carry-over, which keeps a healthy $2,250.00 in the Pot for HiLine next week. 3-No-Taps was all it took to get a piece of the 9-Tap Jackpot consolation, and that was hit 3 times. So, we paid out another $150 Saturday, but the Pot still grew to a tempting $6,300. Our Bowlero Champion, on only his 4th entry with the Tour, is Dex DeCastro. He wins his 1st 9-Tap Tour Title, qualifying him for the McAndrews Year-End Championship. Dex wasn't planning on re-entering Saturday, but when his friend Jeff Sumabat looked like he was going to cash, he decided to take another shot. A good decision to say the least! All 4 games in his 2nd try were better than his best game from the 1st entry, and he shot VERY well in that 1st entry. The result was an AWESOME 1121, worth $1,328.00 ($10 Pro Pot). Dex used his 14 year old Columbia "Beast" that he won at a Tournament back in 1994. He's from Lynnwood and bowls league at Majestic Lanes in Mountlake Terrace. Dex asked us to thank his friends Jeff Sumabat and Chim Saechao for 'always encouraging' him. He plans to use some of his winnings for a Birthday dinner for his girlfriend, Betsey. Dex also asked us to thank Terrence Alford for being such tough competition, and pushing him to his huge score. CONGRATULATIONS Dex on Title #1!! Taking 2nd place is Terrence Alford who really did push Dex, throwing what would normally be a BIG winning score of 1096, good for a $606.00 payday. Terrence and his wife Bernadette, recently returned from Military Tours in South Korea, which is where they have been doing their bowling for the last few years. Paul Marcello shot his career best, taking 3rd place with a NICE 1074, for $471.00.
