JIM KING WINS 9-TAP TITLE, 50% OF PROGRESSIVE
POT AT NARROWS PLAZA TOURNAMENT
!
Champion Jim King

What a day, Long oil... High scores... BIG Payouts!!  A total payout of $6,806.00 at Narrows Plaza Sunday, with $2,160.00 going to 1st time Champion Jim King.  We announced the "Long-Oil" pattern in advance and our members took advantage of it, they were ALL OVER IT!  The scores went right THROUGH THE ROOF!  18 members shot over 1000, with one (1005) missing the cut.  WOW!!!  Several 300's were thrown on Sunday, but none bigger that the Record Setter by Jessica Wy.  She carries a 140 league average and had struggled a bit in her first four 9-Tap Tournaments, then reels off a great 300 game, which is a new record of 353 w/handicap.  Needless to say, there were many bowlers that enjoyed the different shot and many that asked when were we planning on doing it again.

We'll be looking into an answer for that one. Congratulations to our newest Champion.  Jim King has been a Tour member for 2 1/2 years, with two previous 2nd place finishes.  He said that he's been working hard on his game the last few months, which included making an equipment change.  He used his new HAMMER "Raw Anger" to win this one.  Jim wanted to thank Terry Rea, at Robinhood Lanes, for not only drilling his ball, but also for helping him use it.  He commented that he just got into that famous "zone" that he keeps hearing about and felt locked in while shooting a GREAT 1102 series.  Kenmore Lanes is where Jim shoots leagues, on Wednesday and Thursday.  He plans on saving his hard earned wealth to shoot the USBC Nationals this year.  Jim's other favorite pastime these days, is to enjoy his daughters Jazz Saxophone performances.

Wes Pushis continued his recent hot shooting with a fine 1087, for his second 2nd place finish since July.  Greg Burdsall and Pat Govert had to divide 3rd and 4th place money with a tie for 3rd, shooting what would usually be a winning score of 1066.  We did manage to spread out $300 from the Strike Pot to 6 separate bowlers.  But, we need to pay out MORE, or we'll have to get more creative. Our first experience with a Sunday only Tournament was a total success!  Our thanks to all that participated and the many who wrote us to tell us they like the idea of an occasional Sunday event.  We will schedule another after the first of the year.
