CHAMPION MILA CUNANAN

MILA CUNANAN WINS OVER $8,100 AT MAGIC LANES & CASIN0

Mila has bowled 100 squads in 9-TAP TOUR tournaments. The 100 squads may not be a record, but the over $8,100 she won and bowling the front eight 9-TAP only strikes are both record breakers. (By the way, it was on her exact 100th entry that she won). Mila was bowling her normal five squads with so-so results; except for her record-breaking 9-TAP STRIKE POT win on her second squad Saturday; her score was good on that squad. She tried and tried again, but was not connecting like in her second squad. Maybe winning the strike pot slowed her down for a little while. However, when the final squad of the tournament came, Mila kicked into high gear. She beat her Saturday score by over 100 pins. Her pair of lanes were the last to finish in the tournament. We wondered if the pressure from everyone watching would affect her. She still needed to mark in the 9th and 10th frame to win. She responded with a four-bagger, cinching the victory after the second strike. Until then, it appeared as though Harvey's 1105 was solid and holding. Harvey Litt SR, who is a great sport, took 2nd place for $600. Jim Reppert took 3rd place money ($275) for his 1080, Susan Moral 4th for her 1069 ($200), and in fifth place was Kim Forrest, who was pleased to see Mila finally win. There were 164 entries. The total paid out at Magic Lanes was $15,211. The new progressive pot total for Tower Lanes Recreation Center on NOV 8 & 9 is still a respectable $3,520. The Strike Pot resets at $637.

Mila is a lifetime member. She joined our TOUR just less than a year ago. Her highest finish before today was second place. She used her 13lb Ebonite 'Afterburner Vortex', which she had drilled in Reno. She bowls league on Thursdays at Bowlero Lanes. Mila with a smile said that with her winnings she was going to buy a Lotto Ticket. She will also pay bills and buy a new bowling ball. Cheering her on to victory was Earl Kleist, Mike Reynolds, Kim Forrest, and from watching her bowl along with listening to the applause, I would have to guess there were at least 15 members in her rooting section. She said, Kim Forrest told her to kick into a strike mode and that is just what she did. Mila said she relaxed and focused on her game. She appreciated how her bowling friends let her alone to concentrate. She also said good luck was surrounding her for this tournament because she used her maiden name Cunanan for the first time. We all knew her as Mila Visitacion up until this tournament. Mila dedicates the win to her daughter Michelle, and her dog Savanah. Her championship shirt and trophy will positively read MILA CUNANAN. Mila likes our regular bowling format because you know what you have to beat to win. In addition, she is nurse at St Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma and is often on call for emergencies, so our tournaments suit her work schedule favorably. Mila has been a
Cardiac Nurse for 23 years but has worked at St Joseph's for 13. To be precise, Mila works in the Cardiac Cath Lab. In her spare time, she likes watching the Mariners and the Seahawks; in addition, she enjoys playing chess.

9-TAP TOUR and STAFF all want to congratulate Mila on her record accomplishments. Someone will have to bowl the front nine 9-taps to beat her record. The money, well, it speaks for itself. Way to go Mila!

9-TAP TOUR would like to extend a special thanks to Magic Lanes and Casino. We appreciate all the work and hospitality they extended to us throughout the weekend. It was a fun tournament and the $500 that Magic Lanes and Casino added to the prize fund, made the tournament that much more fun. Thank you from all of us.

To our members, we cannot thank you enough. We are well over 600 members and growing. Thanks to you! Hope to see everyone at Tower Lanes.
